Grosse Ile Rowing Alumni Association

Grosse Ile Rowing is looking to establish an active, connected, and informed alumni network.  Since its founding in 1989, the program has had nearly 500 rowers come through its boathouse doors!  While many of us have kept in touch with our teammates, we have yet to connect the entire alumni base.  In order to achieve this, we are asking for you to:

The information you provide will allow us to establish email newsletters, create ideas for alumni events, and allow for networking opportunities. In addition to connecting with each other, we also want to establish a quick and convenient way to share exciting news about the Grosse Ile Rowing team. Some of the recent exciting news includes:

  • New Boathouse: The GIRC has purchased property on West River Rd. and received approval from the Township to build a boathouse on Grosse Ile.

  • Erg Education:  Grosse Ile Schools will be implementing an Erg Education program to teach erg technique and training in grades 4-12.

  • St. Catharines: Our Senior Women’s 59kg 4+ earned a bronze medal from the CSSRA in St. Catharines this year!

None of these accomplishments would be possible without the work of our student-athletes, coaches and the support of the GIRC, family and friends.  In establishing the Grosse Ile Rowing Alumni Association, we hope to strengthen this foundation and help you reconnect with friends and the program that has done so much for so many.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Adam Cecil at

Thank you,

Grosse Ile Rowing Alumni Association
